Radio ‘shock jock’ trial begins in Tampa

TAMPA, Florida — Jury selection is under way in the defamation trial between two Tampa Bay-area radio disc jockeys. Todd Schnitt — better known as MJ, the host of the now-defunct "MJ Morning Show" — filed suit against Bubba "The Love Sponge" Clem. Clem is accused of making defamatory remarks about Schnitt and his wife, who is a former assistant state attorney. Joseph Sacher co-moderates second bankers roundtable

Sacher, of the law firm Sacher, Zelman, Hartman, Paul, Beiley & Sacher, P.A., recently co-moderated the Florida International Bankers Association’s (FIBA) second Broker-Dealer Roundtable. The event was hosted by Veris Consulting. Joseph Sacher also co-moderated the first Roundtable event held this past June and sponsored by KPMG. The participants were mostly comprised of banking and broker-dealer representatives for local and international banks and broker-dealers. The Roundtables included lively, interactive  discussions concerning topics such as Foreign Finders, Recent Enforcement Actions, and other current Regulatory “Hot Topics” that impact the South Florida Broker-Dealer community. New Florida law permits headlight flashing warnings

TALLAHASSEE — Flashing your headlights to alert oncoming drivers that police are lurking on the roadside ahead will no longer be illegal in Florida, though a lawyer who has represented ticketed motorists says a new law legalizing the practice still has loopholes. A provision legalizing such speed trap warnings is part of a wide-ranging motor vehicle law taking effect Tuesday with the new year. Other changes range from allowing homeless people to get free state identification cards to creating a pair of new specialty license plates.
