Greene Takes Aim at the Press
MIAMI -- Jeff Greene is aiming to be Florida's Democratic Senate candidate, but in the meantime he's gunning for the press. The billionaire real estate investor, who is up against Rep. Kendrick Meek in the Aug. 24 Florida primary elections, is preparing a lawsuit against the St. Petersburg Times and the Miami Herald, unless the two papers print retractions to articles they published a few weeks ago. Greene's attorney on the matter is L. Lin Wood. Lawsuits are expected today unless the papers print the retractions to articles concerning Greene's ties to a California businessman now in jail on conspiracy and money laundering charges, and another article that picks up comments Mike Tyson made to Sports Illustrated describing wild parties aboard Greene's yacht.
